A Typical Day

A Day at Discovery
There is no single “typical” day at Discovery Nursery, because every day is shaped by the children themselves. Each room follows its own rhythm, carefully adapted to reflect the personalities, interests, and developmental needs of the children within it. We pay close attention to what sparks their curiosity and creativity, using these moments as opportunities to extend learning and inspire new discoveries.

A Glimpse Into Our Rooms
In the Retreat, our youngest children may spend the morning exploring their senses through a variety of sensory experiences, feeling, listening, watching, and discovering the world around them in a calm and nurturing space. Over in the Explorers room, creativity often takes centre stage, with children freely expressing themselves through colour, paint, and imaginative art experiences.

Learning in Action
The Adventurers frequently make the most of our outdoor spaces, where they might create music in the sound garden, build dens, or get hands-on making mud pies, developing confidence, teamwork, and a love of the outdoors. Meanwhile, the Inventors immerse themselves in imaginative role play, perhaps transforming their space into a café and hosting their own afternoon tea using real-world resources to bring their ideas to life.

Our Daily Rhythm
While each day is flexible and responsive, we understand the importance of consistency. Predictable routines and familiar structures run throughout each room, helping children feel safe, secure, and confident in what comes next. Across the nursery, key moments of the day remain the same. We begin with breakfast at 8:00am, followed by a morning snack at 10:00am. Lunch is served from 11:30am, with an afternoon snack at 2:00pm and a light tea at 4:00pm. These shared times provide a comforting rhythm to the day, balancing exploration with routine.
