At Discovery Nursery, our curriculum is carefully designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning. Rooted in a deep understanding of how young children learn and develop, our approach brings together exploration and play to ensure every child can thrive.
Shaped by Curiosity
We create rich, enabling environments, both indoors and outdoors, that act as invitations to learn. Through thoughtfully planned experiences, children are encouraged to explore, discover, investigate, enquire, unearth, and detect. Our curriculum is not fixed; it evolves in response to children’s interests, fascinations, and developmental stages. This flexible approach allows us to build on what children already know, while gently extending their thinking and encouraging new possibilities.
Our pedagogy is shaped by imaginative, curious, and dedicated practitioners who learn alongside the children. They carefully observe, listen, and respond, creating opportunities that support each child’s next steps. Whether it’s experimenting with materials in the Creation Corner, exploring sound and movement outdoors, or engaging in imaginative role play, every experience is purposeful and rooted in development.
Outdoor Learning
Outdoor learning plays a central role in our curriculum. Our large garden is seen as an extension of the classroom, offering space for creativity, physical development, and exploration. From sound-making and large-scale art to planting and investigating the natural world, children are encouraged to take safe risks, solve problems, and develop resilience.

We are committed to continuous professional development, recognising that high-quality interactions are key to effective learning. Alongside early years qualifications, our team regularly engages in focused training such as Creative Storytelling, Effective Practice with 0–2s, Schemas, and Being a Scientist. This ensures our curriculum remains dynamic, reflective, and aligned with best practice.
Inclusion is at the heart of everything we do. We adapt our environments, experiences, and teaching approaches to ensure all children can access learning in ways that suit them best. Through this, we foster a sense of belonging, confidence, and wellbeing.
