Our babies are nurtured in the calm and comforting surroundings of the Retreat: a peaceful, cosy yet spacious area designed with their needs in mind. This thoughtfully prepared environment is enriched with real-world resources that encourage early exploration and discovery.

The Retreat benefits from its own dedicated garden, providing a safe and inviting space for babies to develop their gross motor skills and enjoy gentle water play. A bright conservatory offers a versatile play area that is regularly refreshed, featuring experiences such as a ball pool, role play kitchen, and a variety of sensory resources to engage curious minds.

Within the main room, a tranquil sleep space ensures babies can rest and recharge, supporting their wellbeing and development. There is also a rich selection of books and carefully chosen resources to spark curiosity, promote early communication, and encourage exploration.

Mealtimes are equally special, with a dedicated dining area where babies can enjoy their food in a relaxed and familiar setting, helping to build positive routines and independence from an early age.

Our Explorers are always on the move, curious, energetic, and eager to build on the strong foundations of learning and development first nurtured in the Retreat. Their days are filled with opportunities to explore, experiment, and express themselves in an environment that supports both independence and collaboration.

A typical day in the Explorers room is active and engaging, with a careful balance of structure and flexibility. Children arrive and settle quickly into familiar routines, helping them feel safe and ready to begin their day. From the outset, they are encouraged to follow their interests, whether that’s investigating resources, engaging in imaginative play, or taking part in adult-led experiences designed to extend their thinking.

The Creation Corner is a favourite area, where children can freely explore colour, texture, and materials, painting, sticking, and designing as their creativity takes the lead. Alongside this, their dedicated messy play space provides endless opportunities for hands-on exploration. Here, children might dig, pour, mix, and experiment, developing their sensory awareness and early problem-solving skills in a fun and meaningful way.

Outdoor play is an important part of the day, offering space to run, climb, and explore the natural world. Whether they are investigating, building, or simply enjoying being active, these experiences support both physical development and confidence.

Throughout the day, key routine times, such as snack, lunch, and rest, provide a reassuring rhythm. Practitioners support children in developing independence, from washing hands to managing their belongings, while also modelling positive behaviour and communication.

In the Explorers room, every moment is an opportunity to learn. Through play, interaction, and carefully planned experiences, children continue to grow in confidence, curiosity, and capability, ready for the next stage of their journey.

The Adventurers benefit from two thoughtfully connected rooms, each designed to support different styles of learning and play. One space offers a calm, inviting environment where children can relax with real-world resources, share stories, and enjoy songs together. This quieter area encourages communication, imagination, and moments of reflection.

The second room is more hands-on and energetic, providing opportunities for practical learning and discovery. Here, children might take part in simple cooking experiences, such as safely preparing vegetables for their lunch, building confidence, independence, and an understanding of the world around them. Creative activities are also a key feature, with arts and crafts experiences that help develop fine motor skills, coordination, and self-expression.

Outdoor play is a highlight for the Adventurers, who are always eager to pull on their wellies and head outside. The garden becomes a space for exploration, creativity, and adventure. Children can experiment with sound-making resources, create their own garden art using spray bottles, sticks, leaves, and paintbrushes, or immerse themselves in imaginative and physical play.

Whether indoors or out, the Adventurers are encouraged to follow their interests, take safe risks, and learn through doing—building confidence, resilience, and a genuine love of discovery every day.

Our Inventors are nearing the end of their Discovery Nursery journey, and this stage is all about bringing together the skills, confidence, and independence they have developed along the way. They are curious, capable learners who are ready to deepen their understanding, build strong relationships, and prepare for their next steps.

The environment in the Inventors room is spacious, offering endless opportunities for discovery, creativity, and collaboration. Children are encouraged to take ownership of their learning, following their interests while being gently guided to extend their thinking and problem-solving skills. Role play is a key part of the day, with the café and dressing-up area providing rich opportunities to practise turn-taking, sharing, and communication.

A love of books and storytelling is also nurtured here. Time spent in the library is a much-loved part of the daily routine, often providing a calm and cosy end to the morning before lunch. Whether sharing stories together or exploring books independently, children develop early literacy skills and a genuine enjoyment of reading.

Outdoors, the garden continues to inspire their sense of adventure and independence. Inventors use the space to explore, create, and collaborate, whether building, problem-solving, or engaging in imaginative play. The outdoor environment offers opportunities to take safe risks, develop physical skills, and extend their learning beyond the classroom.
